View from my Studio 9
Fresh from my trip to California through Kansas, Colorado, Wyoming, Utah and Nevada, I tried to settle in for a day of painting. Two unfinished canvases sat on my large easel, begging for attention.
Conversations with fellow artists, checking my email and Facebook, and reorganizing my work area seemed to happen. The afternoon waned. Not one brush stroke hit a canvas. Writing in my journal, sipping my soda, and looking out my window all occupied several minutes. Time passed. More conversations occurred.
Finally, I found myself assembling my materials, studying my two in-process pieces all the while. They stared back. It was not to be. We had nothing to give each other this day. I pulled out a blank canvas and began applying paint.
Sometimes the Muse is on her own trip.

One Moment in Time
“Every historical ‘moment in time’ has had a specific and unique focus, especially with fashion. A large part of this exhibit features the current fashion trends of tattoos, rainbow hair colors and body piercings. Other inspirations came from a Kentucky Derby party this spring and still others from Dia de Los Muertos celebrations here in NOTO.”
These colorful works are a statement about trends and culture, but they are also a visual delight. Come see them on First Friday, September 1 from 4:00-8:30 PM or by appointment at 785-224-5728.
