Are you guilty of “The Placebo Effect”??????
Let me start by defining placebo
Placebo: is a Latin word meaning” I shall please”
Definition of 'placebo
noun plural -bos or -bo1. medicine
an inactive substance or othersham form of therapyadministered to a patient usually to compare its effects with those of a real drug or treatment, butsometimes for the psychologicalbenefit to the patient through hisbelieving he is receivingtreatment
Here’s my definition in a nutshell:
Now that we are all on the same page I’ll rephrase my question.
Have you ever said to yourself or someone else I want to be healthier and lose weight. I am ready to have more energy and see significant results. I know for a fact that by getting in shape and eating healthy I will reduce the amount of medication that is required for high blood pressure, diabetes, depression, or weight loss. In some cases I know I can eliminate the need for any medication. In addition I will be rewarded by cheaper health insurance and a new physique. So I am ready to start being accountable for my actions in the gym by hiring a professional personal trainer. I’m ready to make these changes so I’ll make sure to tell all my friends and family face to face or by social media.
What happens next is the “Placebo effect” you shop around you’ll get pricing and maybe join a gym and see a trainer for a week and then you stop going because you don’t see immediate results.
My suggestion to eliminate this situation is to come to the table with realistic expectations. You didn’t get the way that you currently are overnight, therefore don’t expect to get results overnight. Getting in shape is a lifestyle change. If we can grasp the idea that is half the battle. You can’t go hard in the gym all week and then eat like crap and expect realistic results. Your nutrition has to have the same shock treatment that your exercise program needs to have to provide real results. You have to come out of your comfort zone for exercise and eating it’s a marriage. You have to be creative because your muscles are smart so is your belly. This is why the need for a personal trainer and a nutritional consultant exists. You need to be held accountable for your actions. Give the process a chance to work and realize everyone is different. What may take 3 months for some people may take 1 year for others.
You will never be too old or too young to get healthy. The current age range of my clients are 4 years old to 85 years old.
So guess what, if you’re reading this that means YOU CAN DO IT TOO.
