2016 - September

ttn logoSeptember, 2016: Welcome to my latest adventure!

Kim Schultz

The summer of 2016 is about to come to an end! I would love for it to continue but I wouldn't get anything done! The end of summer only means that Fall begins! We so often spend too much time complaining about anything. We need to take more time to focus on all the positive things in our lives. Just waking up in the morning is awesome! If you don't like what you see, change it! I will continue to be positive and move forward in my life. Don't let the smile on my face lead you to believe that life is easy! That would not be an accurate assumption. It takes a lot to not fall into the pit of negativity! This is why I work out daily.  I work my body, my mind and my attitude! Life is awesome!

Kim's Excellent Adventures

Building A Business:  I am now in the meeting stage of the business.  I can not keep growing until I figure out how to bring in revenue. I am spending a lot of time doing data entry and no time building and working on the business.  I hope someone finds the website has value and helps me to the next stage of developement.

New Clients: As I work on building I still have to make money and accounting is how I do that.  I was lucky to find two new clients this month! One has an online business and one flips houses in Overland Park!

Vacation in Florida - It was time to get my mom out of town! Another trip to DelRay Beach Florida to visit with family! This is a true vacation.  We basucally just hang out!  I spent time at the pool and ocean! We didn't really do much.  I did workout every day since we ate so much delicious food.  We did attend my cousin's kids' birthday party!

Happy Basset Brewing Co: Since Ryan was going to be gone a Monday, we wanted to check out the newest brewery in Topeka!  We ordered the sampler and I wasn't disgusted by most of the beers.  They have food trucks there on the days they are open! I hear they might be expanding! It is a really cool place!!  We met new people and had a good time!

Farmer's Market! - I am not like the normal person, I go for things other than veggies.  This time I went for pie!  I found a pie too!  It was an amazing pie! This time I got a triple berry pie.  The booth is actually ran by a mom of a friend that I went to school with from kindergarten to 12th grade.

This website is a prototype for an idea that I have been working on for ten years! It is continually changing and I hope to make this the main site for anyone that wants to find something in Topeka to use.

It is being built with those who live in Topeka and the surrounding area but not limited to them.

There are 4 sections to this website.

1. The Topeka Newsletter is the first part.  It is going through some major overhaul since most of the information can now be found in a better organized manner on the website.  This is free for any locally owned business to use to promote their business.

2. The Community Calendar is actually the most important part of this website, right now.  Each community should be informed on what is going on. This doesn't just mean the bar scene. When I say informed, I mean fundraisers, sports, daily food and drink specials, sales, entertainment, recreation and anything else going on.  This calendar tries to include anything that the public is invited to. There is no charge to include your events.  We enter all the events so it saves business owners time. They just need to send us the information and we will take it from there.

3. Everything Topeka is a plethora of information compiled in a map based program.  Here you can search and find different venues in different categories. You can pick one or all categories to search. This search will not find information that is not on the map though so you will need to use the website search function also. It is free to be listed with a simple profile and an affordable way to enhance your listing.

4. Everything Else is more businesses that are not listed in the Map feature. There is a guide page that actually will lead you in the right direction.  It is free to be listed with a simple profile and an affordable way to enhance your listing.

We have 2 different search bars.  We use a program called Hot Spot and it does not integrate with the rest of the website at this time.  So you will need to use both places if you can't find what you are looking for.  Search Articles option will search everything but the maps. It even includes the calendar.

Corporate Support is needed to make this website successful

How can corporate businesses help?

For this resource to be successful, corporate businesses need to appreciate the service and help financially support the website.  They can also include a link in internal emails to employees to keep them informed on the Topeka Community. We need to work together to not only keep the public informed but promote all the great things Topeka has to offer.

If you would like to find out how your business can help, please contact Kim Schultz!
